Why would you give up that much for a guy with 1 year left who is unwilling to sign an extension with the Isles? I think at this point they should take what they can get before losing him for nothing.

Yes one is in russia but the other will be coming next year. It could work i just dont think the front office would want a goalie prospect and a 4-6 d projected d prospect as a package for tavares because both of those areas are strong for nyi

Definitely a good start and NYI may not have another option if area deal doesnt go through. In that case i think NYI would only want futures and picks and try and bottom out.

The Isles aren't far off but if Tavares is leaving then they have to trade him. Dal colle, barzal, and ho-sang will be gamers so if they can fill out some other holes at the cost of a guy who's leaving then it could be a blessing in disguise, long term.

I fail to see how the Islanders would want picks, a 2nd/3rd guy and a a goalie prospect for a #1 star centre who still didn't hit 30 years old yet.

Maybe you are discounting the value of two first round picks, but if Tavares isn't signing with NYI then they have to trade him. The article also mentions a deal around Galchenyuk.

Bottom line is if this type of player becomes available then Bergevin has to go all in. Adding a C of that caliber changes the entire team.
